Iraq

So, it's just over five weeks to go to the Iraq transfer deadline.

Everywhere in the news, powerful people are solemnly vowing that nothing, nothing will stop it from happening.

By now i'm getting more than a little curious:

Exactly what will be transferred?

The news reports say power... well, what power?

It could be a penlite battery for all i know.

Other news reports speak of sovereignty.

Well, how much sovereignty is to be transferred?

Because i really doubt it will be the full bag.

And that would give lie to the word sovereignty, which is the complete and supreme authority over a country or region.

And who is to bestow this, and under what power?

Certainly not the power of elections.

Not the power of the people.

And: to what or whom?

And do they know it yet (the recipients)?

Or is it to be like a lottery prize, to be announced on the day?

Will there be a little ceremony?

A band playing as Bremer hands the scepter of power to the next in line?

Exactly what will change after June 30?

I mean, really??
